Tamsin Ryan Brings the Party

If you want to get ahead with party planning for your little ones this year then blogger, creator and kids' party expert Tamsin Ryan (Bernard), Class of 1997, is on hand to help.

She runs a lovely website called 'ice cream and jelly' (www.icecreamandjelly.com) which is chock full of helpful advice and inspirational ideas from party themes and decorations to party bag fillers and everything in between. Whether you are on a budget or flashing the cash, there’s something for everyone. There is even a Party Planning Checklist to help get you organised.

Tamsin, who is mother to three-year-old Lily, says: “I really enjoy throwing a party; it’s a license to get creative, dress up in a sparkly costume and play party games with the kids. However, I realise this isn’t every parent’s cup of tea, so I want to share my enthusiasm, creative ideas and practical advice in the hope it may inspire and smooth the way for other parents.”

After a 20-year career in marketing, event management and design, Tamsin launched her blog when she was made redundant while on maternity leave. Just three months later, COVID hit. It was while planning Lily’s second birthday party that inspiration struck, and she realised she could combine her loves of creating, writing, children and parties by starting her blog. She watched YouTube videos and online tutorials to learn how to build a website from scratch and hasn’t looked back.

The most recent addition to the blog is the launch of Preloved Presents - icecreamandjelly.com/preloved-presents - a small, yet impactful, range of wrapping paper and gift tags that aim to make it easier and more acceptable to gift pre-owned presents, to be loved again and again.  The wrapping paper and the gift tag make it clear that the gift is preloved and highlights the benefits of this; so there is no surprise, no awkward conversations and everyone feels good about the gift.

Other recent blog topics include Birthday Presents on a Budget, Fun and Nutritious Party Food for All Ages, The Up-cycled Birthday Party and Managing Behaviour at Children’s Birthday Parties.

She adds: “I am absolutely passionate about building this business, about being my own boss, creating something for my daughter to be proud of and being a role model for her and others.” Let’s show her some LEH support.
