Train to Teach with LEH

Are you considering a new career in teaching? As an alumna you’ll already know that LEH is a fantastic place to learn, but did you know it’s also an excellent teacher training hub?

LEH is proud to work with two national School-Centred Initial Teacher Training initiatives – known as SCITTs – to train the teachers of the future.

History and Politics teacher, Juliet Fitzgerald, who heads up LEH’s ITT team, says: “Whether you’re a recent graduate or looking for a change, training to teach unlocks a rewarding career where no two days are the same, and every day gives you the opportunity to inspire and challenge curious minds. We warmly welcome applications for our ITT programme, especially from our alumnae.

“Engaging and inspiring teachers help pupils discover their passions and talents and spark a lifelong love of learning. At LEH, we know the impact brilliant teachers can have and see it in our classrooms every day.”

The traineeships are very hands on, working alongside talented colleagues who act as guides and mentors, observing your lessons and offering encouraging feedback to help trainees push beyond their comfort levels, with support at every step of the way.

LEH is the South West London Training Hub for National Modern Languages SCITT (NML) and National Mathematics and Physics SCITT (NMAPS).

Applying to do your training through a SCITT means you’ll spend most of your training time in schools, gaining a PGCE qualification after successfully completing your course. You’ll experience being part of a team in both an independent and a state school.

Find out if it’s the right move for you by signing up to one of our Train to Teach Taster Sessions here: https://www.lehs.org.uk/employment/train-to-teach-with-leh.

For an informal conversation about teacher training at LEH, you can email Juliet Fitzgerald here: jfitzgerald@lehs.org.uk.
