Pupils Celebrate Top Grades in Public Exams 2024

LEH students at both A level and GCSE achieved wonderful results this summer, including the Dawes twins (pictured) who received four A* A levels apiece.

Abigail and Madeleine Dawes, Class of 2024, were both Academic and Music Scholars, as well as representing LEH in the first lacrosse team. They each achieved four A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Maths, Biology and Chemistry respectively.

Overall, the Class of 2024 achieved 77% A*-A, with 81% being admitted to their first-choice of further education courses. They have left LEH to take up places at a wonderful array of institutions and courses, including Architecture at Bath, Veterinary Medicine and Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Sports Science, Coaching and Physical Education at Loughborough, Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine and Experimental Psychology at Oxford, History of Art at Edinburgh, and Music at some of the UK’s leading Conservatoires.

Other A level highlights include:·

  • Competitive swimmer Emma Bhugun, who has represented Mauritius at international level, achieved A* grades in Economics and Geography and As in Maths and Spanish and will be reading Geography with Economics at LSE.
  • Deputy Head Girl Genevieve Purcell achieved four A* grades and will be reading History and Politics at Durham University.
  • Ariana Chan achieved straight A* grades and will read History at Oxford University.
  • Deputy Head Girl Isabella Baulk achieved four A* grades and will be reading Physics with Computing at Bristol University.

The incoming Lower Sixth have also filled us with pride with an exceptional 97% of their grades being at 9-7, which in old terminology represents A*-A grades, and 66% of all grades achieved being 9s.

The year group achieved remarkable results across core GCSE subjects, with 95% of English Language, 93% of Maths, and 92% of Biology exams achieving grades 8-9. In the wider curricular, a number of subjects achieved 100% of 8-9 grades, including Geography, Music and Drama.

LEH Headmistress, Rowena Cole, said: “This is an excellent set of results across the board. Everyone at LEH feels great pride and we are delighted that our pupils’ hard work and the fantastic expertise and support of our teachers has been rewarded with the highest marks.

“Results are an important enabler for the future, but they are, of course, only ever a part of the story. Our pupils have achieved impressive results while fully embracing all aspects of life at LEH and playing a big part in the culture and community of our school. We will watch our newest graduates with pride and look forward to the role they will continue to play at LEH as part of our amazing alumnae community.”

LEH is now accepting applications for entry in September 2025 in Year 3, Year 7 and Year 12. We have a number of open mornings taking place in September and October. Book your place at on open event today to see LEH in action.
