Garlanded with Awards

Serena Jemmett, Class of 2020, now in her third year at Manchester University studying Politics & International Relations, picked up five trophies at the UK Student Radio Association's Amplify Awards.

Serena, who is really making the most of her time at university, is Station Manager at Manchester’s student radio station Fuse FM, presents her own programme called Sez Says and also writes for the student newspaper The Mancunion.

“I’m buzzing that Fuse FM won three Amplify Awards and I won two,” says Serena. “I’m so proud to be Station Manager of Fuse and really see the station start to pop off!”

She picked up gold for ‘Most Committed Committee Member’ and a silver for ‘Outstanding Contribution’. While Fuse won gold in ‘Best Project’, silver in ‘Most Improved Station’ and bronze in ‘Best Training Initiatives’.

At Fuse FM Serena trains new presenters in the studio and organises a roster of weekly DJ mixes, regular slots and podcasts. In her show Sez Says she discusses social, political and lifestyle matters with a range of guests.
