LEH BFFs 4EVER!

They appear to have nothing in common, yet Sophie Ellis and Melissa Layton, Class of 2009, have been best mates since LEH days. Their hilarious new podcast is called Why The Hell Are We Friends?

Melissa (aka Muj) is a spiritual guru who loves nothing more than running healing workshops and staring at the stars… Whereas Sophie is a staunch non-believer and can be found regularly staring at Muj blankly when she talks about crystals and spirits.

Each week the pair go head-to-head on a new topic and scrutinise each other’s life choices. Plus, they answer listeners’ crystal ball conundrums and explore some hilarious horoscopes.  New episodes drop every Wednesday, wherever you get your podcasts.

So far in the series, the pair have explored the topics of 'Ecstatic Dancing', soul mates and sound baths (which Muj runs) - all while having an absolute laugh and learning more about each other every minute!

Today’s episode (Wednesday 15 November) dives into the topics of eye gazing workshops, with future episodes covering the concept of luck, and even pub quizzes!

Muj has had a varied career since leaving LEH. She studied Music at York University, before going onto a career in Law. She recently left the industry to pursue her own spiritual business ‘Energetics Explained’. 

Sophie studied Anthropology at Durham University and worked in Marketing for a few years before joining BBC Radio 1 to work in radio production. She currently works on the BBC Radio 1’s drive time show - Going Home with Vick & Jordan. The young royal couple were recent guests on the show where they revealed that Prince William's favourite emoji is the aubergine emoji! 

The pair say: “LEH will always have a special place in our hearts for being the place our friendship was born. We weren’t in the same form group, but we got to know each other through our passion for music - from taking part in the school Jazz Club, performing in music concerts together, and studying Music GCSE and Music Technology A level together.

“Over the years, life has taken us in very different directions, but our friendship has always remained strong, and it has been amazing being able to share our different worlds with each other on the podcast. Sophie’s roped Muj into many a gig, pub quiz and board game night and Muj has coerced Sophie into trying more relaxing pastimes like sound baths and eye-gazing workshops!”
