Lara says: “As a current Lower Sixth student, I took advantage of the opportunity to meet with our alumnae from top universities offered by the School.
Having been confident a London University would not suit what I want from a university experience, I attended the talk hoping to gain insight into course selection and university applications. Conversations with Phoebe and Alexa, both students at King’s College London, shifted my perspective.
They emphasised the importance of a 'diverse array of people' and networking opportunities unique to London universities. Particularly enlightening was my discussion with Alexa about neuroscience, a field I hadn't considered, but hearing about the modules and content has prompted me to do more research into the course.
After the talk, Phoebe offered to take many of us around the Guy’s Campus and we travelled to the Hunt’s House Library, showcasing the vibrant learning environment.
I would really encourage any of the future L6's to come on the University trips, even if you have no idea where you want to apply, or you know exactly where you want to apply. Engaging with our alumnae provides invaluable guidance for navigating all aspects of the university selection process.”
Many thanks to our amazing alumnae who kindly agreed to give back to the School by attending the lunch and inspiring current pupils. They were: Phoebe Bonner studying Medicine at Kings College, Lia Tzouves studying Physics at UCL and Jia Makkar undertaking Philosophy and Econmics at UCL, all from the Class of 2023; from the Class of 2022 Zeta Vasanthakumar studying Physics at Imperial College and Amelia Flook doing History of Art at UCL; and finally Alexa Delaney-Smith, Class of 2020, doing a Neuroscience degree at King’s College, London.
If you are logged into your Holles Connect account, you will be able to see a selection of photos taken at the lunch below.
