Read All About It!

The 2024 edition of the alumnae magazine Holles Connect is out now. It explores why 'Kindness Counts' for pupils and former students alike and is packed with the latest school news and alumnae events.

Our Head Girl team recently decided to re-write the LEH values that shape our community and help guide our decision making. Following consultation with fellow pupils and staff, they settled on 10 values they felt encapsulated the ethos we want to embed at LEH. Top of the list is Kindness. Holles Connect explores what that means to current students, and two teachers explain how we nurture kindness in both Senior and Junior School pupils.

Our cover star is professional gravel cyclist Maddy Nutt, Class of 2016, and there are profiles of four alumnae who embody the true LEH spirit, dedicating their lives to helping others and showing immense kindness, as well as a summary of the rousing speech given by Dame Sara Cockerill, DBE, Class of 1986, at the Celebration of the Year, as she exhorted pupils to: “allow yourselves to be you, to be unique.”

LEH Head Mistress, Rowena Cole, says: “I commend Holles Connect magazine to you as an uplifting read and an excellent showcase of the remarkable women that LEH pupils go on to become. An LEH education isn’t just about the time students spend in school, it’s about the impact they go on to have in the world. We are incredibly proud of all our alumnae. Together they form a brilliant, diverse and supportive network that remains a vital part of LEH and enriches the whole School community.”

Two of our long-serving teachers Mrs Angliss, Head of Textiles, and Mrs Richards, English teacher, bid a fond farewell as they retire; there are reports on our upgraded Sixth Form Centre and new Careers Room, plus coverage of recent alumnae events, including the carol service and the annual reunion.

The magazine is also being mailed out to alumnae who have requested a printed copy, or who aren’t on email and should start to hit doormats next week.

If you have any questions or feedback about the magazine, please email: alumnae@lehs.org.uk.

We hope you enjoy reading it.
