Running to Save Lives in London

Please show some LEH love for Police Constable Hannah Bartholomew, Class of 2017, who is excited to be running the London Marathon this weekend, on Sunday 21 April, in aid of London Air Ambulances.

Hannah has been hard at work training for months now and while she ran the Brighton Marathon last year, this is her first time running London. She says: “Working as a police officer is often very emotionally intense so running is a great stress release, and helps me to switch off. Taking part in the London Marathon is a long-held ambition  I’m really looking forward to running the route with lots of other runners, and seeing my friends and family in the crowd who are coming to watch!”

You can sponsor Hannah here: London's Air Ambulance - Hannah Bartholomew

It’s a cause close to Hannah’s heart, as during her time in the police force, she's seen the London Air Ambulance team in action first-hand. She says: “I am completely in awe of them, having seen them act with such skill, speed and compassion. I’ve witnessed their crew perform complex procedures on people whose lives are at risk from random cardiac arrests, stabbings and road traffic collisions. They land in the narrowest of spaces and administer treatments such as open-heart surgery, blood transfusions and general anaesthetic.

"I've seen their team perform this advanced medical care first hand, saving the lives of people ranging from a young cyclist who had been hit by a car and was choking on his own blood by the side of the road, to a father who’d collapsed and had a cardiac arrest in a busy restaurant. It is astounding that they are a charity, who rely on donations in order to continue providing advanced emergency medical care under incredible pressure (for free!) to Londoners.”

She is urging everyone in the LEH community to donate to this vital cause, and we will be cheering her on every step of the way – all 60,000+ of them! Please show your support now.
