Marathon in Memory of Katie Benson

It’s bound to be an emotional day on Sunday (21 April) for paralegal Annabelle Stoney, Class of 2018, who is running the London Marathon in memory of her close friend Katie Benson, also Class of 2018.

Last month marked the fifth anniversary of the sudden death of LEH‘s former rowing star Katie Benson, who was in her first year at Nottingham University and was aged 18. She is very much missed by many alumnae and staff alike.  Annabelle is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in Katie’s name.

Lacrosse-loving Annabelle says: “I’m looking forward to running for Katie and I will be immensely grateful for any donations. They will enable CRY to continue its work to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD), support young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions, offer bereavement support to families affected by YSCD and continue the promotion and development of heart screening.

“I also implore you to please get your heart tested and raise awareness of heart health amongst those around you. Each week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.”

Annabelle’s JustGiving page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/annabellestoney.

Please help her support this amazing, life-changing charity.
