Alumnae News |
“On 17th May I’ll be undertaking the Half Moon Plus, which is part of the MoonWalk London 2025. I’ll be walking over 15 miles, united with women from all over the world.
Walk the Walk are dedicated to raising money and awareness for vital breast cancer causes and to encourage women, men and children to start walking as a way of keeping fitter, healthier and as an important part of cancer prevention. This incredible charity is over 25 years old and provides funding for research into many cancers as well as giving grants to charities and organisations supporting those living with cancer.
Last year I completed their 5K inaugural Zoom Walk and decided that this year it was time to take on more of a challenge and experience the MoonWalk itself!
My personal reason for undertaking the Half Moon Plus is that two years ago I found a (thankfully benign) lump in my left breast. I was extremely fortunate that Kingston Hospital rapidly ran tests for me and were able to put my mind at ease very quickly, but I know that so many women are less fortunate than I was, and the outcome can be very different, changing their and their families lives forever, and in the worst cases be life threatening.
Both of my Godmothers have battled breast cancer and, thanks to the incredible advances in research and technology, they’re living full and happy lives.
There are still spaces to sign up for this amazing event, please let me know if you do as it would be great to see you there! https://walkthewalk.org/challenges/the-moonwalk-london/
In the meantime, it’s on with my boots as training continues!"
Any donations to Emily's fundraising page would be most gratefully received HERE.
