Nadia Day (Class of 1997) is exhibiting her stunning art pieces at a local art fair in Teddington this weekend (16-18 May). Nadia, an impressionist landscape artist known for capturing the quiet drama of the natural world enjoyed her time in the art department when at school during the ‘90s. Focusing particularly on expansive British skies and the subtle silhouettes of figures and animals, Nadia’s work evokes a strong sense of place and atmosphere.
Working primarily in acrylic, Nadia uses bold brushstrokes and expressive palette knife techniques to create textured, dynamic compositions that reflect the fleeting beauty of nature with clarity and emotion. Artistic talent clearly runs in the family, Nadia’s father, Clive Dand, is also an artist. He paints landscapes in oils and creates sculptures inspired by his travels.
Nadia reflects on her time at LEH:
“I was at LEH during the 1990s, and with Miss Candy as our Head, we were taught that anything was achievable if you strived for it. I was especially grateful for the progressive art department. In sixth form, we even had life drawing classes with live models, something I still consider the most important element of art training.”
She also shares fond memories of the friendships she made during her school years:
“My group of LEH girls and Hampton boys are still my very best friends. I have incredibly warm memories of my time at school.”
You can see Nadia and her work in person this weekend, 16–18 May, at the Spring Art Fair at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington.
