Fuelled by a shared love of sport sparked at LEH, Grace Bolton, Class of 2013, and Dr Lucinda Dawson, Class of 2005, who got to know each other when Lucinda’s children started at the school Grace teaches at, took on a scorching 180km charity cycle from Bath to Sheen Mount - raising an incredible £50,000 for two local causes close to their hearts.
Grace, a dedicated teacher at Sheen Mount, and Luci, a Richmond GP, braved the blazing heat with 83 fellow riders to support The Holly Lodge Centre, which offers accessible nature and heritage education to children and adults and Sheen Mount Primary School. The funds will help provide inclusive nature education at Holly Lodge and enhance learning at Sheen Mount – where all three of Luci’s sons will be pupils this September.
“The heat was brutal,” they said, “but thinking of the children kept us going.”
Cheered in by friends and family, the ride was a true celebration of community, education, and the enduring LEH spirit. Luci’s niece, Isabella Riley, is now carrying on that legacy in Lower IV.
And there’s more to celebrate - Grace ties the knot in two weeks in Strawberry Hill. Isn’t it wonderful to see how life at LEH gave these amazing women the chance to be bold and take on such a tough challenge!
