Each year, students and alumnae come together to discuss all things university. From choosing the best campus to evaluating catering, our students value the insight that alumnae provide about life at university. Recently, alumnae and students gathered in central London to learn about life at a London university. Staff, students, and alumnae all had a fantastic time.
Ms Viola, Head of Sixth Form, said:
“From a staff perspective, it was wonderful to see the Lower Sixth engaging so enthusiastically with our alumnae. The students asked thoughtful questions, made the most of the advice offered, and showed real curiosity. It was a genuinely inspiring day that left them motivated and better informed about their next steps. We are grateful to our incredible alumnae for giving generously of their time to support and encourage their LEH sisters.”
Maryam from Lower Six wrote for Holles Connect about the day:
On 7 March, the Lower Sixth visited King’s College London, notebooks in hand, to hear from LEH alumnae studying at London universities. We met students pursuing a wide range of degrees, including History of Art, Medicine, Liberal Arts, PPE, and Dentistry. The event was an invaluable opportunity to gain insight directly from successful applicants. Our alumnae offered guidance on personal statements, degree choices, accommodation, and other important topics, which we eagerly noted.
After initial discussions over sandwiches and coffee, the King’s College London students guided us on two tours: one around the Guy’s Campus and another around the Strand Campus, catering to both Humanities and STEM students. They answered our many questions as we explored the library, courtyard, and even the exclusive ‘Vault.’ After another round of tea and cake, we continued with a tour of the neighbouring LSE campus. There, we explored independent study areas, the student union, and various cafes. It was an enriching experience that motivated everyone to begin thinking about their university applications.
We will be running a virtual event for Oxbridge applicants and another for London-based universities in 2027. Our students rely on our alumnae to provide insight and guidance, and they greatly appreciate the opportunity to connect with you. If you would like to take part in next year’s event, please email alumnae@lehs.org.uk.
